AUTISM FOCUSED

Autism Specific Testing

Being autism focused provides benefits to families impacted by ASD and to providers of autism behavioral technician services. BICC has the only two autism specific certification programs accredited by the NCCA. The Board Certified Autism Technician (BCAT) certification program for behavioral technicians ensures certificants have a minimum of 15 hours of supervised autism specific experience and meet rigorous testing criteria for autism spectrum disorder. The Board Certified Autism Professional (BCAP) for professionals requires certificants possess a graduate degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1,000 hours of autism experience. This focus means our certified technicians meet the highest ASD standards.

Evidence Based Treatment

We recognize the vast difference between autism and other behavioral disorders and tailor our certification programs to these unique needs. Families impacted by ASD also realize this and are looking for specialized and qualified caregivers to help them. That’s why BICC works to enhance public protection by developing and administering a certification program consistent with the needs of behavior analysts to recognize individuals who are qualified to treat the deficits and behaviors associated with ASD.

Consumer Safety

Consumer Safety is critical when dealing with individuals with ASD. All BCAT and BCAP candidates and certificants must submit to a comprehensive background check with ongoing monitoring as grounds for fitness for certification. Since behavior technicians may work with minimal supervision in-home, BICC wants to ensure the highest levels of consumer protection through our background check policy. The BCAT & BCAP are the only certification programs that require ongoing monitoring for its certificants.
